1 mess of green beans
1-3 slices of side meat or streaked bacon
salt to taste

Sting and break green beans. Wash thoroughly. Put beans in large heavy pot, add streaked meat, and salt to taste. Cook over low - medium heat until tender - at least 2-3 hours.

We ate pinto beans or "soup" beans all winter, but when the garden came in, we had green beans all summer long, with corn bread, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and green onions from the garden. Usually with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Yum.
