Mom Towne's Whoppie Pies Recipe

1/2 c shortning
1 c sugar
2 egg yolks
1 c milk
2 c flour
5 T cocoa
1 t baking soda
1 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
1/2 T vanilla

2 egg whites
2 c confectioners sugar
1 t vanilla
1/4 t salt
1/2 c shortening

preheat oven 375. Sift dry ingredients together. Add rest and mix until smooth. Drop by spoonfuls on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 min until set but not crisp. when cool put together sandwich style.

Beat filling until smooth and creamy.
