1 cup flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cold butter or hard margarine

Directions:
Directions:
Measure flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into bowl. Cut in butter until mealy. (crumbly). Add milk. Stir to form a dough. When gravy from stew is boiling, drop dough by 6 or more spoonfuls over top of beef or |chicken stew. COVER. Cook over boiling mixture for 15 minutes WITHOUT LIFTING LID OR YOU DON'T GET ANY FOR DINNER. Remove dumplings to a plate.

Mom made excellent dumplings and stew. She often folded in blueberries or diced apple for a dessert treat.
