1/2 cup salted butter at room temperature
2 tbsp. each chopped fresh parsley and basil
4 tsp. chopped garlic,divided
1 1/2 lbs hot or sweet Italian sausages links
6 small red , yellow and /or green peppers seeded and quartered
2 onions peeled and quartered
1 tbsp . olive oil
1 tables balsamic vinegar
6 hoagie or sandwich rolls, split lengthwise

Heat grill to medium heat. in a bowl combine butter, parsley, basil and tsp. garlic; set aside. grill sausage links 20 min' or until cooked through, turning occasionally.
meanwhile grill peppers and onions 8 minutes or until tender, turning once . let cool 5 minutes or until cool enough to handle ; thinly slice. in bowl , gently toss peppers and onions with oil , vinegar and remaining garlic. season with salt and pepper and ground black pepper if desired. Grill rolls, cut side down 1 min. or until lightly toasted.spread rolls with herb butter. divide sausage and pepper mixture evenly among rolls wrap in paper if desired.
