1/4 C. Olive Oil
1 Onion - chopped
2 Cloves Garlic - minced
1 Green Pepper - seeded & diced
1/3 C. Fresh Parsley - chopped fine

2 Cans Tomatoes (28 oz cans)- chopped w/ liquid
1 1/2 C. Dry Red Wine (Bill likes Chianti )
2 Bay Leaves
2 t. Basil
1 t. Oregano

12 Steamer Clams or more - scrubbed
1 Lb. Raw Shrimp or more (shelled & deveined)
6 oz. Cooked Crab Meat or more (from a can is fine)
12 ounces of Scallops or more
1 Lb. Halibut- cut into pieces

Heat oil and saute onion, garlic, pepper and parsley.
Add next 5 ingredients (tomatoes, wine, bay leaves, basil and oregano) .
Bring to a boil and then simmer 20 minutes.
Add clams, cover and simmer about 15 minutes.
Add halibut.
About 2 minutes later add shrimp and scallops.
Cook covered about 3-4 more minutes or until seafood done.
Salt and pepper to taste and serve.

This is an expensive meal.
The fresher the seafood the better. Tastes wonderful warmed up if any Cioppino left over.
This is a Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve traditional meal for the Bill Welter family since about 1998.
