1 lb ham hocks or smoked turkey
7 cups water
1 bunch fresh collard greens
1 bunch fresh turnip greens
1 tsp salt
pepper to taste
1 small whole red pepper (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine ham hocks and water in a large pot. Bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to simmer for about 1 hr. or until meat is tender. In the meantime , wash greens thoroughly and drain. Remove stems, and cut into bite size pcs. Add greens, salt, and pepper to boiled meat. Bring to a boil. Cover; reduce heat and simmer for 1-1/2 hrs or until greens are tender. You may peel and qtr turnips and add to the pot for last 30 minutes of cooking.

I love greens alone or with turnips. Serve with cornbread and green onions. oh yeah ice tea.
