2 oz. compressed yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. warm water
2 c. scalded milk
4 T. sugar
2 T. salt
4 T. lard
1 tsp. caraway seeds
1 1/2 c. warm water
2 c. rye flour
10 c. wheat flour

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c. warm water and 1 tsp. sugar. Scald milk. Add sugar, salt, lard, and caraway seeds. Cool slightly. Add 1 1/2 c. warm water and yeast mixture. Then add rye flour and wheat flour to make a stiff dough. Knead until bubbles appear or dough is smooth and not sticky. Bake 400º for 30 min; then 375º for 30 min.
