1 qt. blackberries
sugar to taste
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and drain fresh blackberries. Mix berries with 1 cup sugar, cover with water and cook for 2-3 hours over low to medium heat. Mix flour, 2 tbsp. sugar, 1/3 cup milk. Bring berries to boil. Drop dough from spoon or roll into small balls and drop into berry mixture. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until dumplings are cooked through. Serve with cream or over ice cream..

Mother used to make blackberry dumplings when berries were in season. I loved the berries mixed with cream. Mom used to laugh and tell me that I would ask for "pie, no bumps". Mother would make basically a biscuit dough and pinch off a small amount and drop into the cooking mixture. Her dumplings were the best.
