1 large cabbage
1 large green pepper
1 large onion
1 cup sugar + 2 tbsp.
1 tbsp. salt
1 cup vinegar
½ cup salad oil
2 tbsp. celery seed

Directions:
Directions:
Shred together - cabbage, pepper and onion. Add to this: 1 cup sugar and 1 tbsp. salt. Heat in saucepan (do not boil) 1 cup vinegar, ½ cup salad oil, 2 tbsp. celery seed, 2 tbsp. sugar. Let cool completely. Pour over cabbage mixture; cover in container and let stand. Does better if not eaten in 2 or 3 weeks. The longer the better.

Mom made this slaw a lot and it is one of the best I have eaten. Karen still laughs about the time that Mom was making this slaw and Annette, thinking she was making a dessert, asked for a bite. Mom gave her a bite, and you should have seen the look on that little girl's face. Mom had to work hard at keeping a straight face.
