1 pkg (4 oz) German sweet chocolate
½ c water
1 c softened butter
2 c sugar
4 eggs, separated
1 t vanilla
2 ½ c cake flour
1 t baking soda
½ t salt
1 c buttermilk

Frosting:
1 c evaporated milk
1 c sugar
2 egg yolks, lightly beaten
½ c butter
1 t vanilla
1 1/3 c flaked coconut
1 t vanilla
1 chopped pecans

Directions:

**In saucepan over low heat, stir chocolate and water until chocolate is melted. Cool. Cream butter, sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time, beat well after each. Add chocolate mixture and vanilla; mix well. **Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture. Another bowl, beat egg white until stiff peaks for; fold into batter. Line greased 9x13 pan with waxed paper. Grease and flour paper. Spread batter evenly in pan. Bake 350 for 50 minutes and cool in pan for 10 min, invert, and remove wax paper and cool wire rack. **For frosting combine milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter and vanilla in saucepan; cook and stir over med heat. Stir in coconut and pecans. Beat until cool and desired consistency.
