6 qts. popcorn
2 c. sugar
1/2 t. cream of tartar
1/2 c. boiling water
1 T. butter
1/2 t. soda

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar and cream of tartar and add boiling water. Cook over moderate heat for 5 minutes, covered. Stir occasionally. Uncover and boil until light caramel color - DO NOT STIR. Add soda and butter after removing from heat. Pour over popcorn, stir to coat.

I remember it takes what seems like forever to turn light caramel color. Make sure you wait long enough or it isn't as good.
