4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1/4 butter
FROSTING
1-1/2 cups packed brn sugar
3/4 cup butter , melted
1/2 cup half and half cream
2 cups flaked coconut

Directions:

In a mixing bowl. beat eggs, sugar and vanilla until thick, about 4 minutes. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to egg mixture and beat just until combined. In saucepan, bring milk and butter to boil, stirring constantly. Add to batter and beat until combined. Pour into as greased 13-x 9-x 2 inch.baking pan. Bake at 350º for 35-40 minutes or until cake tests done. Combine frosting ingredients; spread over warm cake. Broil until lightly brn, about 3-4 minutes.

Oh how I remember this cake....Nana made it all the time. I was in the 4th grade when I remember it first, I'm sure she made it before. We lived in Kennedy, Texas. She called it a burnt sugar cake.
Grandaddy loved coconut and I learned to. Sooooo
good. She also made a Fresh Coconut pie too. Wish I could find that recipe. She would grate the
fresh coconut. I guess Grandaddy opened it for her. She always let me help her cook. These memories are priceless. Makes tears come into my eyes. They are so precious. I hope you have
