Melt 4 sq. unsweetened chocolate and 1/4 c. butter in double boiler. In large bowl combine 1# powdered sugar, 1/2 c. milk, 1 t. vanilla and 1/4 t. salt, mix well. Add hot chocolate mixture blending thoroughly. Chill 10 minutes. Beat until spreading consistency. 3 - 5 minutes.
