2 1/2 c. flour
1 t. salt
1 c. lard
1 egg yolk
Enough milk to make 2/3 c. with yolk
2 handfuls cornflakes
8 - 10 apples
1 c. sugar
1 t. cinnamon
1 egg white
1 T. water
1 c. powdered sugar
vanilla

Directions:

Mix flour, salt, lard as for pie crust, add milk and egg yolk. Roll 1/2 of dough to fill jelly roll pan. Sprinkle bottom crust with crushed cornflakes. Peel and slice apples and place over crust and cornflakes. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll out other half of dough and place on top, pinch edges. Beat egg white stiff and brush over crust. Bake at 400º for 60 minutes. While warm, frost with water, powdered sugar and vanilla. Drizzle over warm crust.

Lard is essential to this recipe. Crust tastes the same if pieced together to fill the pan.
