1 cup flour
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup cocoa, divided
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 1/2 cups hot water

Directions:

In a 9 inch square cake pan, combine flour, 3/4 cup of the sugar, baking powder and salt. Blend melted butter and 1/4 cup of the cocoa, add to dry ingredients along with milk and vanilla, mix well with a fork.
Combine remaining 3/4 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of cocoa and nuts. Sprinkle over batter. Carefully pour hot water over all; do not stir. Bake in 350 degree oven 40 - 45 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
