Sift together:
2 C. flour
2 C. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Cream together:
1/2 C. shortening
1/2 C. sour milk (add 1 tsp vinegar to milk)
2 eggs

Dissolve:
5 tsp cocoa
1 C. boiling water

Add:
1 tsp vanilla

Sift together dry ingredients. Add creamed ingredients, "cocoa water" and vanilla. Beat well. Bake in 9" x 13" greased and floured pan at 375º for 30 - 35 minutes.
