8 to 10 tart apples peeled, cored and sliced thin

MIX
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 t nutmeg
1/2 t cinnamon
2 t flour

Directions:
Directions:
Alternate a layer of apples and a layer of mixture until pie pan is full (pie crust is uncooked at this point)
Dot with butter on top and a few drops of fresh lemon juice

Cut slits in top pie crust and adjust over apples
Seal edges and trim

Bake 50-60 minutes @ 400º

Mother must have made a "ka zillion" of these when we were growing up. She liked to use Jonathan apples
Following suit, I have made close to a "ka zillion" myself. Fall means apple pie...I normally use Granny Smith and Macintosh mixture in the pie.

I use pre-made pie crusts...of course Mother made her pie crusts from scratch
