1 cup chopped dates
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup boiling water
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1&1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup pecans

Directions:

Mix first 3 ingredients together & let cool
After it has cooled add next 4 ingredients.
Bake in greased loaf pan 45 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in it comes out clean
At 350º

This recipe is a favorite of Don's from his childhood. Again, it came from his Mother's recipes. On Sunday's she would usually put on a roast for after church. Then on Sunday nights it was jello and/or cake!
