1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup raisins
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups brown or white sugar
2/3 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups old-fashioned oats

Directions:
Directions:
Step 1: Mix together boiling water, raisins and baking soda, and set aside to cool.
Step 2: Mix together sugar, shortening, eggs and cinnamon. Combine with mixture from step 1.
Step 3: Mix in flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla.
Step 4: Add old-fashioned oats.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
