1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

In a separate bowl mix together:

2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400ºF

Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs. Blend flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Stir both together. Shape into 1 inch balls. Roll each in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. Cookies puff up at first then flatten out. Makes 6 dozen cookies.
