6 tbsp shortening
1/2 cup ketchup
1 large can tomato soup
1 can beef broth
1 tsp. salt
2/3 cup flour
12 oz. tomato juice
1 tsp. caraway seed
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf

Directions:
Directions:
1. Melt shortening in a heavy skillet. Add flour and blend well. Let cook till dark brown, stirring constantly.
2. Add caraway seed and stir one minute. Add remaining ingredients and cook over medium heat about 15 minutes and until well blended and thickened.
