2 tsp. mustard
2 Tbsp. Swiss cheese, grated
1 Tbsp. cream
2 slices French bread
1 thin slice ham
2 Tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Spread each slice of bread with a thin layer of mustard. Mix cheese and cream until spreadable and cover one side of each slice of bread with mixture. Place ham between slices. Melt 1 Tbsp. butter in small skillet over moderate heat; add sandwich and cook slowly until golden brown. Remove sandwich, add remaining butter and cook the other side. Very sharp Cheddar cheese may be substituted for the Swiss cheese.

This recipe is an upscale variation on the lowly grilled cheese sandwich. When I was a child, I thought I didn't like grilled cheese sandwiches, so Nana Andy fixed grilled peanut butter sandwiches for me instead!
