2 qts vegetables (cucs,onions,cauliflower)
6 cups water
2 cups salt
2 cups vinegar
6 cups water
1 tsp alum
1 qt vinegar
8 cups sugar
1/2 cup pickling salt
1 tsp turmeric

Directions:
Directions:
Heat 6 cups water and pour over bite sized pieces of vegetables and salt. Let stand for 3 days. Drain and put cold water on for 2 days. Then heat to boiling: 2 cups vinegar, 6 cups water, and alum. Pour over drained vegetables. Leave overnight and drain. Make a syrup out of last 4 ingredients and pour over vegetables. Repeat this last process for 3 days using the same syrup. On the last day put into sterilizied jars.
