1 Egg
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 cup Milk, scalded
1 cake Yeast
3 1/2 cups Flour

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg, sugar, shortening and salt together, add lukewarm milk. Dissolve yeast in a little warm water with a little sugar added. Add to the egg mixture and add the flour, working it into a soft dough. Mix well and let rise until it doubles in size. Cut out the desired size with a spoon. Put on greased shallow pans and let rise again. Cook prunes or apricots, sweetened to taste, add a little cinnamon vanilla and butter. Put on the kolaches; brush with melted butter and bake in a moderately hot (350º to 375º) oven until brown. Brush again with butter and sprinkle with sugar.
