2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. shortening (vegetable)
1 tsp. soda
1 cup sour milk (buttermilk)
fruit/nuts (such as raisins, nuts, dates, etc.)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
walnut-size lump of butter

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour with sugar. Cut shortening into mixture with fork. Set aside 1/2 cup of this mixture for crumbling on top. In separate bowl, stir soda into sour milk (buttermilk). Add into cake mixture. Mix well, but do not beat. Spread into greased 13x8x2 1/2 pan. Sprinkle with fruit/nuts. In 1/2 cup crumbles, add brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of pan mixture. Bake at 350º 20-25 minutes. Cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
