Ingredients:  
1 1/2 lb. of ground chuck hamburger, browned
1 large yellow onion chopped
3 carrots sliced thick
1/4 medium sized cabbage shredded
4 stalks celery chopped in 1/4 inch pieces
1 cup of shredded green cabbage, add more if you like more
3 medium potatoes cubed in 1/2 inch pieces
1 can diced tomatoes (not too big of a can)
1/2 cup uncooked rice
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Brown ground chuck first. Add water to cover beef. Add all above ingredients. Add more water as need so it doesn't get too thick. Soup is done when rice is cooked.

Mamie's neighbor Millie gave this recipe to her when she first moved in to St. Clair Shores. Mamie says this is a winter dish, but is good year round.
