1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup smooth or crunchy peanut butter
2 1/2 or 3 cups flour
Dash salt
2 teaspoons baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375º.

2. Cream shortening, vanilla, and sugars together; add eggs and beat thoroughly. Stir in peanut butter, then dry ingredients and mix well.

3. Form into balls; place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Press with back of fork to make criss-crosses.

4. Bake for 10 minutes, then cool on wire racks. Also good with chocolate chips stirred into batter.
