1 package Betty Crocker SuperMoist Butter Pecan Cake Mix
1 cup water
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
3 eggs
1/2 cup maple syrup or maple-flavoured syrup
1 tub Betty Crocker whipped Cream Cheese Frosting
Chopped pecans, toasted (for garnish)

Heat oven to 350ºF. Lightly grease or spray with non-stick cooking spray one 12 cup fluted tube pan.
In a large bowl, beat all the ingredients (except frosting and garnish) with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour into pan.
Bake 40-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 2 hours.
Place frosting in a microwavable bowl and microwave uncovered for 10-15 seconds.
Spread frosting over top of cake allowing it to flow down sides. garnish with additional toasted chopped pecans if desired. To toast the pecans, spread in a shallow ungreased pan; bake uncovered in a 350ºF oven 6 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until light brown.

A big hit at my sister-in-laws gift opening. I made a butter cream icing and used caramelized walnuts. It did not come home with me. :)
