4 T. butter
1 lg. onion, minced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1# sausage
1 can each red and white beans
2 c. each beef broth and chicken broth
1 can (16 oz.) tomatoes and juice
1/4 c. whiskey (I omit and it still tastes great)
salt and pepper to taste

Heat butter in dutch oven; saute onion and garlic till tender. Brown sausage in skillet. Drain. Add sausage and remaining ingredients to dutch oven and simmer, covered 1 1/2 hours.

I snagged this recipe from your Great Grandmother Marion Hansen at a family gathering in Texas around 1988. She actually made it for lunch for us while we were there. I think of her every time I make it.
