3 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp soda
2 tbs butter
3 cups raw peanuts
1 cup karo syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in kettle and stir well. Bring to boil, washing down sides of the pan with a pastry brush dipped in water. Boil to 232 degrees. Place lid on pan and cook for one minute. Add raw peanuts. When candy begins boiling, stir slowly. Cook until light brown in color or 305 degrees. Remove from heat and immediately add soda, salt and vanilla. Stir. Pour onto buttered cookie sheet and spread quickly with back of the spoon. When brittle has cooled, and set up, break into pieces.

This candy is made for Christmas, a tradition. My sister-in-law, Dawna Galloway Ruesch gave me the recipe in the early 60's. I finally got brave enough to make it. It really isn't that hard to make and is worth it.
