Christmas time was special at our home. Dad would cut a tree somewhere. Our two older sisters did most of the decorations. Bubbling lights, icicles, and a star on top. When Christmas morning came everyone was up bright and early. Our sisters got clothes; the two older boys got toys that we shared. Wagon one year-boxing gloves the next year. Two younger boys got toys together.
Aunt Nellie would bring a large candy cane from work and some oranges. But we all had a good time. We did not have much money, but I remember that us boys had a pair of small air force wings (no pin on the back) that we used to give to each other at Christmas time.
