1 c. margarine
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
*1/2 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. flour
8 oz dates
1 c. pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Cream marg. add sugar gradually, cream well. Add 4 eggs, one at a time. Combine 3 3/4 c. flour, 1 tsp soda, 1/4 tsp salt. Add to cream mixture alternately with 1/2* c. buttermilk. Add 1/4 c. flour to dates, pecans, stir in batter.
Tube pan 325º 1 1/2 hours

Glaze:
1/2 c. sugar, 1 T grated orange rind, 1/4 c. + 2 T orange juice, 1 T lemon juice.
Cook over low heat til sugar melts. Pour over hot cake, leave in pan til cool.
