1 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c. milk
2 T margarine
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 c. sugar
1 T cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
1 c. milk
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 T margarine
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c. cream, whipped
3 pt strawberries
3 T sugar

Directions:
1 c. sifted cake flour, 1 tsp BP, 1/4 tsp salt sifted all together. Heat 1/2 c. milk and 2 T margarine. Keep hot. Beat 2 eggs on high til thick & lemon colored, about 3 min. Gradually add 1 c. sugar at med speed 4 to 5 min. Add dry ingredients, stir just til blended. Stir in milk & 1 tsp vanilla. 2 - 8 inch pans.
350º 20 min. Cool 10 min in pan then turn out.

Combine 1/3 c. sugar, 1 T cornstarch & 1/8 tsp salt. Stir in 1 c. milk cook over medium beat til thick. Stir some of mixture into 2 egg yolks beaten. Cook 2 mins. more. Stir in 1 T margarine & 1 tsp vanilla, chill. Fold in 1/2 c. cream, whipped and crushed strawberries.

Crush 3 pt strawberries (leave some whole for the top) + 3 T sugar

Cut layers in two, put mixture between layers, put in refrigerator over nite, garnish top with cream and berries next day.

Use 1 1/2 qt size bowl
