1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg
pinch salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
2 cups flour
marachino cherries, cut in pieces (about quarters)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter and sugar together. Add egg and vanilla. Add flour. Roll in small balls and press with fork dipped in flour. Put piece of marachino cherry on top. Bake at 325 until lightly browned, 10-12 minutes.


These are my family's favorite Christmas cookies. I make quite a few batches, because they look festive and are easy to make. You can put red and/or green marachino cherries on to make them festive.
When I make them on my pizza stone instead of on a pan, the bottoms stay light instead of getting browned.
