1/2 c Shortening
1 1/2 C. Sugar
2 Eggs
2 oz. Red Food Coloring
l t. Salt
1 T. Vanilla
1 C. Buttermilk
2 1/2 C. Cake Flour
1 T. Vinegar
1 1/2t. Soda
2 T. Cocoa

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening , sugar and eggs. Beat well. Make a paste of cocoa and red coloring and add to creamed mix. Add salt, vanilla andbuttermilk alternately with flour. Beat well. Add soda to vinegar--DO NOT STIR.Fold into batter. Bake in 2 9" cake pans at 350º for 30 minutes. After cold spread and ice with Waldorf Icing
