3 qt rectangular baking dish, smaller if you want a deep crisp
8 large cooking apples, pealed and sliced
1/2 c. sugar
1/4c. water
1/4 -1/2 c. lemon juice
In separate bowl combine:
1c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon and nutmeg
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
Place sliced apples in baking dish, combine sugar, water and lemon juice, add to apples. Bake in 350 degree oven. Bake until apples are clear.
In separate bowl; add flour, sugar, egg,cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix with hands until this is fine. Sprinkle over apples. Pour melted butter over entire unbaked cobbler. Return to oven. Bake 350 degrees until golden on top. Serve warm with whipped or ice cream. Cool Whip works too.

A summer favorite! In Utah we always had the best home grown apples. If we wanted the cobbler, we kids had to pick the apples. Our Northern Utah relatives always said their apples were "crisper/better."............I'd say that was debatable. Sometimes we didn't use lemon juice, as it was not always available. I have made this recipe for years. A quick way to use apples that need to be "used up".
