1 C. cut up Dates ****1 C. boiling water
1 C. nuts chopped-----1t. cinnamon
1t, Soda (no eggs)----1 t. Vanilla
1 C. Sugar 2 T. Cocoa
2 C. Flour
3/4 C. Mayonnaise

Directions:
Directions:
Mix soda, nuts, dates and water. Blend mayonnaise and sugar. Add flour, salt and cocoa alternately with date Mixture. Bake 8" layer or loaf pan 350º 35-40 minutes

Mrs. Cullom lived on the banks of the Cowlitz River and was my mother's friend as long as I can remember. Her daughter Evelyn was my oldest sister's friend and I was the flower girl at the age of 5 for both of their weddings.
