1/4 lb. butter
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
1-lb. can chocolate syrup
1 tsp. vanilla

Icing:
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 stick butter
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, one at a time. Beat in flour, baking powder and salt. Add chocolate syrup and vanilla. Pour in 9x13 greased pan. Bake at 350º for about 30 minutes. After cake has cooled for 15-20 minutes, start the icing. In a saucepan, mix together sugar, evaporated milk and butter. Bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute and add chocolate chips. Stir until melted (add nuts, if desired). Pour over hot cake and leave in pan.
