1 tsp sugar
1/2 c cider vinegar
pinch alum

Directions:
Put dill on bottom of quart jar. Add cleaned cucumbers to pack jar. Leave room to add another dill sprig on top. Add dry ingredients, add cider vinegar and fill with water, but only to bottom of rim. Wipe off jar rim with clean cloth.
Fill canner with water and bring to boil. Add jars and take out as soon as the pickles start to turn color. Doesn't take very long. Let stand to cool and listen for the seal to 'pop'. DO NOT touch lids - they should seal on their own. If the jar does not seal, repeat the canning process and let stand to cool
