Texas Sheet Cake Recipe

Add to pan:
1 stick (1/4 pound) margarine
½ cup shortening
¼ cup cocoa
1 cup water

In mixing bowl, sift:
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
½ tsp. salt

1 tsp. soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

Icing:
¼ c. cocoa
1 stick (1/4 pound) margarine
6 tablespoons milk
1 tsp. vanilla

1 pound powdered sugar
1 generous cup of chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cake:
Butter and flour sheet cake / jelly roll pan.
Put first four ingredients in a pan on the stove and bring to a boil.
Sift sugar, flour and salt in mixing bowl then add hot mixture to mixing bowl and mix.
Add soda, buttermilk, vanilla and eggs and beat well.
Pour into sheet cake pan and bake for 20 minutes
Icing:
In same pan on the stove, bring to a boil the cocoa, margarine, milk and vanilla over medium heat, Remove from heat and add the powdered sugar and pecans. Mix well and pour directly over the hot cake (still in the sheet cake pan). Let cool and serve with ice cream.
