2 c. (4 sticks) butter, room temperature
3 c. sugar
6 large eggs
1 c. milk (I use buttermilk)
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. almond extract
4 c. flour (I use bread flour)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º.
Butter and flour a 10" tube pan.
Cream together butter and sugar on high speed for several minutes.
Add eggs, one at a time and mix well.
Combine milk with extracts.
Alternately add flour and liquid to the batter.
Mix well.
Pour into a 10" tube pan and bake at 325º for 1 1/2 hours to 1 hour and 50 minutes, until a tester comes out clean.
Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes then turn the cake out onto a serving dish and cool completely.

For a vanilla pound cake use 2 tbsp. of vanilla and no almond extract. Lemon extract can be substituted for the almond extract for a lemon pound cake, etc.
