1 c. large chopped onion.
1/2 c. chopped green bell pepper.
1/4 chopped celery.
2 cloves garlic, minced..
1 tbsp. cooking oil.
4 c. chopped, peeled tomatoes (6 large) or two 14 oz. cans tomatoes, undrained and cut up.
1 6 oz. can tomato paste.
2 tbsp. snipped fresh parsley.
1 tbsp. snipped fresh basil or 1 tsp. dried oregano, crushed.
2 tsp. snipped fresh marjoram or 1/2 tsp. dried marjoram, crushed.
1 tsp. sugar.
1/2 salt.
1/4 black pepper.
8 oz. dried spaghetti or linguine.
Finely shredded Parmesan cheese.

Directions:
In a Dutch oven cook onions, sweet peppers, celery, and garlic in hot oil until vegetables are tender.
Stir in 1/3 c. water, tomatoes, tomato paste, parsley, dried herbs, sugar, salt, and black pepper.
Bring to boiling, reduce heat.
Simmer, covered for 30 minutes.
Uncover simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or to desired consistence, stirring occasionally.
Stir in fresh herbs.
Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions.
Serve sauce over hot cooked pasta.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
