1 lb. carrots.
1/2 tsp. salt.
2/3 c. packaged brown sugar.
1/4 c. margarine or butter.
1 tsp. grated orange peel, or lemon juice.
1 c. water.
1 c. canned chicken broth.

Directions:
Directions:
Peel the carrots, and cut into 1/4 in. slices.
Place carrots, salt, 1/2 c. brown sugar, margarine, and canned chicken broth.
Boil carrots with lid on pan until tender.
Reduce heat just enough so water bubbles gently and add the remainder sugar.
Cook until sugar is turned into a glace and carrots are tender when pierced with a fork.
Add the lemon juice (or orange peel) at the very end of cooking.
Be careful not to overcook or the mixture will taste scorched.
Remove the skillet from the heat.
