Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 7/8 cups of flour
1/4 cup of melted butter
1/2 cup of molasses
1/4 cup of brown sugar
a dash of salt
1/2 tsp. of soda
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. allspice

Directions:
Directions:
You heat the molasses and add to it the butter, the sugar, the spices, salt and soda. Then add the flour gradually, mixing well. You should place the dough in a crock or bowl and cover it well so that it will not dry out, and set it in a cold place. When you are ready to use it - and no sooner than ten days after mixing - you roll it out paper thin, cut it in rounds or diamonds, and place a piece of blanched almond in the centre of each. These are baked five or six minutes in a moderately hot oven (375º).

Thanks to Hans Clason, January 1953. On his 85th birthday he invited all his granddaughters to bake these cookies, and there was a contest, with a prize to the winner. We all got a prize!
