12 shucked fresh oysters on their shells
2 T. minced onion
2 T. minced fresh parsley
2 T. butter
2 T. whiskey
1/2 tsp. salt.
1/2 c. whiskey for flambé

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450º.
Arrange oysters on cooking sheet.
Blend other ingredients and spoon over oysters.
Bake 10 minutes.

Put oysters on heat proof serving platter. Warm 1/2 cup whiskey, poor over oysters and ignite at serving table.

This is a recipe from Mary Waishwell's Aunt Mary Gillette, the woman Mom lived with and worked for when she was growing up in Pennsylvania. I can't imagine that she actually made this with whiskey as she was a very stern lady, but its fun to include this bit of family food history anyway.
