2 cups buttermilk
2 eggs
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp bacon drippings

Directions:

Combine cornmeal, buttermilk, eggs and soda; mix well. Heat bacon drippings in a heavy 10 inch skillet; pour half of hot drippings into cornmeal mixture, and mix well. Pour batter into hot skillet and bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes

Pour bacon drippings in the skillet and put it in the hot over until sizzling. It's time to pour the batter in when the little cornmeal sprinkled int he skillet starts to sizzle. - Mrs. Mary M.
