1 egg
1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
1 cup molasses
2/3 cup boiling water
5 cups flour
1 leg. TSR. cream of tartar
4 TSR. soda
1 TSR. salt
2 TSR. vanilla
1 TSR. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
First, beat the egg well. Add sugar; shortening; molasses and water. Mix flour; cream of tartar; baking soda and cinnamon through a sifter. Put everything together. Cover and set in refrigerator until cooled.
Cook at 350º for 5 minutes and turn and rotate pans. Cook an additional 4 to 5 minutes.
