1 c. Butter softened
2 Packages (3oz each) cream cheese softened
2 c. Flour
1 Package (14oz.) carmels
¼ c. plus 3 Tbsp. Evaporated milk
2 Tbsp. Shortening
2 Tbsp. Butter softened
1 Tbsp evaporated milk
1 c. Powdered sugar

In a large bowl, cream the 1c butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Gradually add flour and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until easy to handle. Roll dough into 1” balls, press onto bottom and sides of ungreased miniature muffin cups pan. Prick bottoms with a fork. Bake at 375° for 15-17 minutes until golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan. In a large heavy saucepan over low heat, melt the caramels with ¼ c plus 3 Tbsp. evaporated milk. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Transfer to heavy duty resealable plastic bag. Pipe filling into pastry cups. Cool to room temperature. In a small bowl, beat shortening and 2 Tbsp. butter until smooth. Gradually beat in powdered sugar and 1 Tbsp evaporated milk until fluffy. Pipe onto filling. Store in the fridge.
