3 T cornstarch, divided,
2 T plus 1/2 c water, divided,
1/2 tsp garlic powder,
1 # boneless beef top round steak or sirloin steak, cut into thin 3-inch strips,
2 T vegetable oil, divided,
4 c fresh broccoli florets,
1 small onion, cut into wedges,
1/3 c soy sauce,
2 T brown sugar,
1 tsp ginger,
Hot cooked rice

In a large resealable bag, combine 2 T cornstarch, 2 T water and garlic powder; add beef. Seal bag and turn to coat. In a large skillet or wok over med high heat, stir-fry beef in 1 T oil until beef is no longer pink; remove and keep warm. Stir-fry broccoli and onion in remaining oil for 4-5 minutes or until desired tenderness. Return beef to pan. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, remaining cornstarch and water until smooth. add to the pan. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with rice.
