1/4 L butter milk
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
1-1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup butter or margarine
3 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter milk and baking soda together and let stand. Mix dry ingredients together. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Melt butter/margarine and drizzle into batter. Whisk eggs one at a time into mixture. Add more flour or milk for desired consistency. Pour small amounts onto heart-shaped waffle iron to cook. Serve with butter and strawberry jam or sprinkled with icing sugar.

This is another recipe from Målfrid Hodne Asserson, my mother-in-law. As with many Norwegian recipes, amounts are approximate and based on family taste. Målfrid would often make waffles on a summer afternoon at the cottage on the North Sea.
